“I know what it means, jackass. I ain’t as stupid as I am ugly.”
Every Outpost needs resources, every army its supplies, and every campaign demands blood or profit. This one’s no different. What you contribute doesn’t disappear into comfort or the aether; it gets weaponized into art, bringing it full circle back to you, my readers.
So, on this last post of the year, let’s take a look at what you help build, what it costs, and where we’re going next. The brimstones are calling for no mercy, just blood. And I’m going to give it to you.
Worlds and stories can live rent-free in your head, but if you’re a writer, you’ve got to jot that shit down or you’re going to go crazy. Most writers—pure speculation on my part—do just that: write. Then, they set it to the side and go on about their lives. Hell, they might even start a new project if they’re feeling spicy.
But the smaller contingent of those mentioned above, the ones that publish or even self-publish—the process doesn’t stop there. Depending on how grueling the process is, how much they fork out, costs could range from $1,000 to several thousand to bring their vision to you.
In this post we’re breaking down where your money is going, how it’s reinvested back into the business to get more books into your hands. All sales—ebook, print, and (in the future) audio—every Member Subscriber or Founder, every penny that trickles into the author coffers gets funneled straight back into the work. I’ve said it before, and I’ll never stop saying it: you can never go wrong investing in yourself, and that’s what we’re doing here.
Let’s break it down.
