Ko-don Chronicles | Peronious
The oldest man of Ermaeyth
FROM: AMIRAH, ORACLE TO THE ORACOGNOMANCERS
TO: PERONIOUS DEXLOUS, SON OF MAGNUS
“I know not the purpose of the Time Warden’s meddling, but she twists events and changes outcomes.”
Legends don’t always come from a time long forgotten. Sometimes, legends reside among the living. The brimstones are calling for no mercy, just blood, and we’ve got to feed them.
Peronious Dexlous is one such legend. In his home of Kran Prime, the seat of the Kran Empire, he is revered. Nay, that is too mild of a term. Peronious is second only to the emperor himself, what the Vesoli call the daegano. But why is he such an icon among his people? Just for being old? No, he’s the oldest living person in the world of Ermaeyth, and it’s not even close.
If we were to take this out of the setting of Ermaeyth and put it in on our world, the oldest humans live around 100 to maybe 110—with a few exceptions. Peronious just passed his 200th birthday, and that’s something to celebrate. What’s more, he just doesn’t seem to slow down, and the chances of him ‘shuffling off the mortal coil’ are slim, unless something unnatural happens.
But what’s the secret to his longevity, and why is he so revered? Let’s find out…
