Welcome to the Outpost
So, here we are.
I’ve started this Substack to give readers a direct line to what I’m building, a universe where war, religion, trauma, legacy, and survival’s never clean.
This is Outpost Dire. I’m all about the human moments, the good and the bad, morally complex situations, and emotional fidelity within a sci-fi or dark fantasy frame work. If you like that sort of thing, you’re in the right place. More stories are on the way.
I’ll be sharing:
Progress updates, cover reveals, publication timelines, deleted scenes or chapters, and random posts.
Behind-the-scenes lore and character deep dives, but those already published and yet to come.
And an occasional sneak peek into my creative process, from writing, to clean up, and on why I chose certain story elements along the way.
What This Isn’t:
This won’t be a dumping ground from my old WordPress blog. I won’t be firing off weekly slop for a attaboy. I’m not here to spam.
I write across multiple connected series: Dark Legacy, Warmaster, Maro Prakk, and a few other one-off stories. I’ll cross between them from time to time, especially when the lore overlaps, and I try to keep a healthy rotation of stories coming out.
If You’re New:
Check out the posts and see where my series are in the publication circuit. You can start anywhere, but I have recommendations. If you’re into dark fantasy or even epic fantasy, the Dark Legacy Series is your starting line. If you’re unsure about me and my works, I suggest Red Creek, the first book in the Maro Prakk Novella Series. You can usually find it on sale for $0.99 or free on all major platforms. Maro will give you a taste of what kind of style I write. If you like sci-fi, The Dark Portal might scratch that itch: an alien first contact story, and I promise, no humans were hurt in the process.
The Worlds I Write:
I write across the connected Dire Universe where magic binds it all together. Each series stands on its own, but they thread through a deeper system.
The Dark Legacy Series:
This is my flagship, a dark fantasy, eight volume story. It’s not as grim as Game of Thrones but it’s darker than The Blade Itself. I will say it’s more psychologically charged with a hell of a lot more magic. There’s berserkers, assassins, corrupted individuals, magical creatures, and gods. Books 1–3 are published, and books 4–7 are in advanced stages. Volume IV is dropping in 2027.
The Warmaster Series:
A military sci-fi with fantasy elements much like the amazing game Mass Effect. You’ll get starships, a cagey chain of command, and politically-charged atmosphere on the frontier of space. Book 2 of the series, Decimation Protocol, just released June 25, 2026.
The Maro Prakk Novella Series:
This has quickly become a favorite, not only of mine, but my readers. It’s a blend of the gritty westerns we love and magic. Think Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven meets The Witcher. Violence, unlawfulness, and retribution coat the insides of every page, not to mention monsters and the frontier life. Series is ongoing, and the third installment is set for an October 26, 2026 release.
Why I’m Here:
I’m looking for a home, a way to reach a wider audience without posting into the void of algorithms, ads, and trends. I’m not looking for a dead end, but a path forward. I want to build a community that loves to read the kinds of stories I love to write: cerebral, emotionally heavy, filled with ramifications that echo long after the last page.
